Anke Angel was born on 3 Born October 1961 in Zeist Netherlands. Her father is a big fan of boogie woogie, and so she sat as a little girl on his lap when he grabbed the keys. Together they listened to panels of Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis. If we are to believe her father, Anke played at the age of 3 years of their first simple blues on the piano. At 6 she began with classical piano lessons. Since it has been taught in Zeist only classical piano, she acquired by listening to recordings of the first pieces of boogie woogie. During this time she recorded her first original songs with the equipment of her father. These recordings were not intended for other ears. She completed her musical training in the following years with singing lessons.
After completion of their school career was staggered Anke Angel at the University of Utrecht to study law. Your work as a lawyer specializing in maintenance law left her at that time very little time to play the piano. After all, she continued to compose, among other things, for one or another fashion show. The Boogie Woogie playing it operated only in private. If time permitted, she visited with her father boogie and jazz concerts. On one of these concerts, she met Little Willie Littlefield. They became friends and as Little Willie play boogie woogie Anke heard, he encouraged her to devote himself again to play the piano more. Anke realized that as boogie woogie pianist and more people - and not least himself - could give pleasure than of law.
She took lessons with Rob Agerbeek to learn more about jazz, and developed their characteristic, very powerful variety. "It is indeed a woman, but plays like a man .." is a compliment, what Anke hear again and again. Since her first public appearance at a jazz festival now takes on her career momentum. Throughout Europe it has become a popular woman.
Her extensive repertoire includes, first and foremost boogie woogie and blues, but also original compositions, jazzy ballads (Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald), Fats Domino songs and pieces in the style of Oscar Peterson.
With their debut Allbum 2005 "Boogious", a live album in 2007 and ""Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Boogie eingestellt" (2009) are now three CDs released.
