Biography

Antonelli Electr, more recently known simply as Antonelli, is the alias of Stefan Schwander, an electronic music producer from Düsseldorf, Germany. He is considered one of the early contributors to German minimal electronic music and is often mentioned alongside artists such as The Modernist, Wolfgang Voigt, and Thomas Brinkmann.

Schwander has produced music under various pseudonyms, including A Rocket In Dub, Repeat Orchestra, Rhythm Maker, Pop Up, Swimmingpool, and Antonelli. His work has been influential among electronic music producers and DJs.

Since the mid-1990s, Antonelli has released music that blends minimal electronic styles with elements of disco, characterized by steady dance rhythms and melodic structures. His tracks often feature basslines reminiscent of Giorgio Moroder’s style, combining straightforward beats with euphoric melodic elements.

In addition to producing dancefloor-oriented music, Antonelli’s releases also explore experimental directions, incorporating elements of dub and abstract electronic music. His work is noted for its intricate sound design and minimalist approach. Notable releases include the albums "Me, The Disco Machine" and "Click", and singles such as "The Vogue (feat. Miss Kittin)" and "Automatic Music". His soundtrack album "The Blackout Quintet", released on Italic, showcases a more ambient style.

Antonelli is Schwander’s primary project, and he has performed live across numerous international cities, including Tokyo, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Moscow, London, and Copenhagen.

In addition to his solo productions, Antonelli has been active as a remixer and collaborator, working with artists such as Michael Mayer, Freestyle Man, Farben, Lawrence, Steve Bug, Egoexpress, Elektro Musik Department, Oliver Hacke, Error Error, and Mondo Grosso.
