Antonello Atzori

Antonello Atzori is the Father of Luca David Atzori. Luca suffered from Infantile Tay Sachs Disease, a rare form of illness which starts showing its symptoms when the children are about 6-7 months, turning them deaf, blind, motionless, speechless, ultimately die by the age of 4. Luca was born the 11/11/2010, he was diagnosed with Infantile Tay Sachs at the age of 15 months the 07/02/2012 and he died the 02/02/2013 at the age of 26 months.

During the time he was looking after his Son he started to sing and play his old guitar for him, an instrument that Luca loved to hear. Antonello is not a professional singer or guitar player, but inspired by the terribly dramatic situation he was living, this meaning preparing his own child to be taken to his grave while witnessing him lose all his skills, his heart drove him to write few songs. One in particular, the most hearth felt one, was wrote and sang after Luca’s death during his stay at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Selly Oak, Birmingham, UK, sitting next to Luca in the post mortem cold-room provided by the hospice. Although he has never been in a recording studio in his life, he put all his insecurities on one side and managed to professionally record this song at Blackbird Studio, Birmingham, the song was released as a single and is called “Luca”.

After Luca’s death he has recorded a whole album but he still does not defines himself as a Singer or Songwriter. Some people recently used the word “Artist” referring to him, some others consider him to be a “Heartist”, a person specialized in the “Art of the Heart”.

The 11/11/2013, falling together with Luca’s third birthday, he released the full CD album called ELEVEN, 11 songs plus a hidden track which start at the minute 11:11 from the 11th song. The cover was carved out of the Roman number 2 (II), both of Luca’s numbers. The songs are all written and performed by him although Antonello never had guitar or singing lessons, he has the great ability to find tunes to suit and express his feelings.

Since his son Luca was diagnosed, with the help of his friends they set up a fundraising organization called Luca Loves Life Appeal

Antonello actively fundraises for several different UK based charity organizations in many different ways and is now going around pubs and clubs to play his songs and, during these events, raise money for Luca Loves Life Appeal which will then redistribute it to charities across UK, in particular Acorns Children's Hospice and Birmingham Children Hospital as well as financially support any child, from any country and any background who is in need. Luca Loves Life has financially helped children in Mexico, USA and Romania regardless of their medical condition as Luca Loves Life doesn’t just help Tay Sachs children or just UK children but any child who suffer and is not as lucky as Luca to live in a country with free NHS, the proud of Great Britain.
