Biography

Appease screamed its first breath in the Spring of 2001 in Bolton, Manchester. It's members came together from three different continents and in a frighteningly short space of time ten songs were written and recorded as their first demo.

Straight after the demo was available Appease hit the road, taking their passionate live show to any venues/bars/basements that would have them. Despite equipment regularly breaking under the strains of touring, unreliable transport becoming more and more of a problem and having to hold down part time jobs to fund the band, Appease have managed to play hundereds shows since the 17th of April 2001. Traveling as far as Belgium to support their dedication to music and bringing over bands from Italy, America, Canada and Sweden to help extend all avenues, with no label support, management or outside funding.

Appease released their first self-titled CD through a record label that they engineered just for that purpose, independently funding and distributing the record. It quickly sold 1,000 copies in only a few months!

Following this spectacular groundwork it wasn't long before the band were subjected to the scrutiny of A&R across the UK. The quartet decided to sign with Mighty Atom Records (Funeral For A Friend, 3 Colours Red, Hondo Maclean, Goatboy, Liberty37) and 'Act Five, Scene Three' is the first result of their collaboration. Produced by Joe Gibb (Madonna, Jane's Addiction, Johnny Truant, Million Dead, Goatboy) it provides a sterling demonstration of the band's angular and muscular take on pop punk.

Ever increasing support from all corners of the music industry (Mark Radcliffe and Chris Moyles at Radio 1 are big fans… SJM Concerts and The Agency Group have taken the band under their wings etc) has seen the band step up to the plate in readiness for a serious go at musical success. Their richly layered sound and diary-book honest lyrics create a contemporary form of pop-punk music promises to bring Appease straight into the limelight.
