Took me a while to get in this band, but now they're becoming one of my new favorite bands atm. All eras are great, but to be a contrarian, I love Alissa just a bit more than everyone else. The brutality of Angela is great too, but the new stuff is basically all my favorite metal genres into one.

Instead of FeMaLe-fRoNteD bands, I would love to see more metal bands with female members beyond the symphonic or gothic cliche with mainstream clean vocals. I hope to see more all-girl bands in more challenging genres like black, thrash, death, metalcore or even war metal, where all the girls take part in thoughtful songwriting and excellent instrumental skills beyond relying on their beauty as the selling point.

Hell no. Not because these vocalists look like MILFs in general. My problem with these female-fronted bands with clean vocals is how they are marketed like pop music for people who don't like metal at first, the use of the only woman as the sole magnet for the bands to gain attention (esp. from horny men). It's not just because I loathe the female vocalists' pretentiously impractical outfit designed to show more skin, perpetuating the dehumanizing beauty standards for women being treated as sex objects. This also create a stereotype that women are not intelligent enough to learn more skill to play guitars, bass of drums. So they chose to be singers instead. They also made the rest of band members more forgettable, fans and people in general would only know them via "OMFG LoOk At ThiS sExEh vOkALiSt. MeTaL gUrLs R KoOL!"

Thou dost seem vexed by the notion that a woman might choose the role of vocalist, as if the mere act of such a choice denotes a lack of intellect, or the failing of ambition. Pray, let us not assume that the delicate art of vocal performance requires no study, no mastery, no craft. Surely, even the humblest among us might have noticed that those who sing, particularly in metal, are often required to possess pipes that can rend the heavens asunder with a mere breath. And truly, what of the band members who "fade into obscurity"? Methinks thy critique betrays an ignorance of the collaborative nature of music. The bassist and the drummer, though not clad in thigh-high boots and corsets, may yet be as much a part of the performance as the singer. To ignore them in favour of highlighting the outward appearance of the lead vocalist is, perhaps, not the fault of the band, but rather the shallow perception of the audience.

I don't care if the singer is a hot girl or a fat geek; if I like the music, I listen to it and that's it. Is it so hard for you to believe that many of us like the band's music? Alissa is a very talented singer btw. She can deliver both growled and clean vocals, has good technique and stage pressence, plus she is hot, so? You have weird fixation with the band taking advantage of the singers' beauty. Let's see, I listened to Arch Enemy when I was 15 and it blew my mind. I never imagined the singer (Angela) was a woman at first. When I found out, it was kind of cool and that was it, but I didn't become a fan just because of that. I think if a band has a member who stands out for their appearance why not use it? Wake up, dude. I think you're trapped in 90s notions of "artistic authenticity." Bands have to eat and they have to promote their music the best they can; it's no different than the poses with makeup and medieval weapons that black metal bands strike in their promotional images.

I just saw Arch Enemy in Mexico City on Wednesday. Even though Alissa was in a bit of a bad state, they gave an excellent show, and she was a total professional.

Cringe. I heard this band, especially the vocalist, prohihits journalists from photographing their performance no matter what the reasons are. Reminds me to those underground NSBM and RAC bands with mediocre songwriting whose gigs often ban taking pics of their members performing.

Yeah!! The new album have some feelings that we're back, not their best work, but maybe the most notable Melodeath with Thrash Metal Guitars that we've got with Alissa in a long time. Only Vivre Libre feels like outside of the road for me, don't get me wrong. I Mean, It's not a bad song, just don't match with the whole other songs of the album, and it's not my vibe, great solo (remembered me iron maiden 80's energy) but at all? It's a Nice album with something new, but that sounds like "home".
