Ataphiel (pr. EIGHT - AH - FEE - ELL) were an Irish alternative rock band based in Co. Kildare. In September 2005, Tim Crowley (guitars, vocals) applied for a music course called Unearthed, seeking out bands. He recruited Jay O'Driscoll (guitars), a musically like-minded friend with whom he had played with on many occasions.
