Biography
Ataphiel (pr. EIGHT - AH - FEE - ELL) were an Irish alternative rock band based in Co. Kildare. In September 2005, Tim Crowley (guitars, vocals) applied for a music course called Unearthed, seeking out bands. He recruited Jay O'Driscoll (guitars), a musically like-minded friend with whom he had played with on many occasions. After months of complacent inactivity, they settled on a solid line-up in July 2006 (also featuring Tim Maybury on bass and Peter Lee on drums). The band gained a strong local reputation amongst youths craving something different, but that did not stop the band from imploding in early 2007.
Three of the four former members are currently playing in an electro/experimental/alt-rock outfit called Dark Age Disco.
