Biography
Aunty Panty was birthed from the cottage cheese thighs of Edith Massey and left on a witch's doorstep.
Shavonne Tovah Somvong and Tiffany Paige conceived AP in the dreadful winter of 2009, on the premise of realizing their little girl dreams-playing in a riot grrrl band. Although the duo have only been together a short while, their innovative approach to music has created a prurient commotion in their hometown of Saskatoon, SK (Tiffany has recently relocated to Montreal). Aunty Panty’s affection for performative humiliation is apparent in their costumes and novel ‘shrines’ displayed at every show. Their stage antics never cease to enrapture the attention of their audiences; their demeanor is akin to that of the Garbage Pail Kids. Their sharing of both guitar and drumming duties acts as a conduit for discordant melody and brazen noise that will leave one in an existential daze.
Aunty Panty has shared the stage with bands such as but not limited to Calgary’s Deadhorse, Vancouver's Nu Sensae and White Lung, Montreal’s Swamp Sex Robots, Winnipeg’s This Hisses, New Brunswick’s Cop Shades, and local heart throbs Shooting Guns, Feral Children, and Auld Beak. In July, Aunty Panty released a music video for their song Panty Stain.
After nineteen solid months of stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers and thrashing around in dingy basements, Aunty Panty is ready to bring their antics to a bathroom near you!
