Bandua are a musical duo composed of Bernardo d’Addario (also known as Tempura) and Edgar Valente. Born in Beira Baixa, Bernardo is Portuguese-Brazilian, both followed separate paths in the artistic world: the first participated, as a bassist, in several songs released by the singer Lhast, and also works as a DJ; the second is, along with Bandua, also a member of the band Criatura, formed in 2013 and which has already released two albums, the last of which in 2021.
The idea behind this duo began to be designed by Bernardo in 2018, who, when looking for downtempo music in Portuguese and with traditional roots, came across the absence of works in these records. Thus, Bandua were precursors of a path that brings together electronics, Portuguese folklore and “Berlinian downtempo”, as they explained to Rimas e Batidas.
Edgar was invited to join the project and together they began preparing the first album, “Bandua”, which was released in February this year by the Dutch-Brazilian label Frente Bolivarista.
