Biography
Basement Tape are a Bangkok-based rock band, formed in late 2008 by members of Thai punk band The Darlings, and Australian's The Section. They play mixture of 60’s rock radio melodies and a liberal sprinkling of tape hiss of underground pop with lo-fi recording techniques.
เบสเมนท์เทป เป็นวงดนตรีโฟล์ค-ร็อค นำโดย “ทัด บุนนาค และ เบน เอ็ดวาร์ดส์” ทั้งคู่แชร์เพลงที่แต่ละคนแต่ง และตระเวณแสดงสดในกรุงเทพฯ ตั้งแต่ช่วงปลายปี 2008
ถ้าจะบรรยายส่วนผสมในเพลงของเบสเมนท์เทป จะนึกถึงเมโลดี้ของเพลงร๊อคที่พบบนหน้าปัดม์วิทยุในยุค 60s และดนตรีป็อปอันเดอร์กราวด์จากยุค 90s และการบันทึกเสียงแบบ lo-fi
Basement Tape เริ่มบันทึกเสียงเพลงเหล่านั้นด้วยวิธีการแบบ Analog Recording ด้วยเครื่องอัด 4-8 แทรค โดยไม่มีการใช้คอมพิวเตอร์หรือเครื่องจำลองเสียงเข้ามายุ่งเกี่ยวใดๆเลย ผลที่ได้ก็คือ อีพีจำนวน 7 เพลงในชื่อ Hey You! EP ซึ่งได้ออกวางจำหน่ายในช่วงกลางปี 2009 ภายใต้สังกัด Panda Records
กลางปี 2010 Basement Tape ออกอัลบั้มเต็มชุดแรกซึ่งมีเพลงไม่ซ้ำกับอีพีแรกเลยที่มีเนื้อร้องภาษาไทยด้วยกับสังกัด SpicyDisc
