With a name that's hard to remember and a sound that's impossible to forget, Beligerous takes pop-punk on a beach vacation. Sophisticated guitar riffs melt in with a ska/reggae foundation to the tune of a melody Houston has been enjoying since 2002.
Beligerous started in the suburbs of Houston, Texas in 2002 as a 4-piece, pre-high school rock band with moderate aspirations, vast quantities of carbonated beverages, and a world of musical potential. In 2002, the band was the youngest at the time to perform at the Java Jazz Coffee House in Spring, Texas. The band morphed with the departure of members and the addition of newer talents over three years. The current formation consists of five members who work constantly to achieve absolute musical proficiency.
Since then Beligerous has become one of the biggest local draws in Houston. Over the years the band has often found itself been booked on Friday and Saturday nights both upstairs and down a Fitzgerald's which is a historic musical landmark in Houston. The band also found itself tapped by KRBE Radio Station to headline their Tsunami Relief Benefit Concert last year, and their most recent shows have included national touring bands such as We Put Out Record's own Patent Pending and Sideonedummy's Zox. Nationally they have toured Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan and were a featured artist on Riding the Third Wave, which is prominent on Ohio State University's Underground Radio Station. Further they have been on numerous pod casts and rose to Number 5 in the nation on Pure Volume last summer while enjoying over 2000 plays a day during the stint. Finally and most proudly, Beligerous was chosen to play by ABC New York to perform for their hit prime-time reality TV show Wife Swap which aired internationally as well as throughout the USA.
Beligerous has transformed through several genres and styles over the past four years and now prefers to keep the best qualities from each to influence their collective sound. And though the members themselves may be rather young in years, most would not recognize it as their sound, dedication, longevity and dependability has enamored them with quite a few nationally signed bands some of which even ask for Beligerous by name when looking for a good opening act while performing in H-town.
