Luis Coutinho, also known as Bemti, is a Brazilian singer and composer born in Minas Gerais state and currently living in São Paulo, Brazil.
Bemti's solo project carries melancholic and rustic elements mixed with influences from MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), contemporary, pop and alternative music. By using the unmistakable timbre of a "viola caipira" (a popular Brazilian countryside guitar) as a base for his songs, and considering it an "instrument of his soul", Bemti's music results in an unparalleled and unforgettable Brazilian contemporary urban indie folk.
In 2018 he released the music video for his first solo single "Gostar de Quem," from the album "era dois", featuring singers Johnny Hooker and Tuyo. The song deals with the difficulty of creating bonds from the point of view of a gay man in a context in which dating apps seem to make it difficult to make connections beyond the surface.
Bemti is also a founding member of the band Falso Coral (with Bela Moschkovich and Guilherme Giacomini), which mixes indie folk and dream pop. Bemti has also worked on "Aos Cubos" podcast project playing with Brazilian singers Silva, Ana Muller and Tiê.
