Biography
There are two artists named Ben Thomas (and maybe more):
1). Ben Thomas born 1970, in Trachloin, South Wales is a controversial singer/songwriter. Growing up on the alcholol fueled streets of Neath and Swansea, Ben Thomas recieves his musical inspiriation from many real-life events. Beginnings with his solo Jazz career failed to inspire him, and he turned to the new 'Club' genre of music in 1986. His parents early death in 2001 sparked a change in the middle aged techno/rock superstar's musical genre.
His early life was greatly involved with making money to fuel his drug addiction, yet he managed to turn his life around with the help of what would become one of his greatest friends, Lima O'Sullivan, whom he has dedicated his latest album to. In 1986 when disco was at it's peak, Ben Thomas broke into the big time with his vinyl 'The Question', a fan favourite among clubs in South Wales.
In 1990 he released his sophomore album 'I Don't Care', a jazz-influenced album with emphasis on life on the streets of South Wales, and included many lyrics sung himself. The album failed to match up to the hype of his previous album, and he spent the next few years out of the public eye, improving his music.
His 'Homeland' tour of 1998, coupled with his epic third album, 'Nevar 4get' made his fanbase widen to unbelievable proportions, attending 40 venues in the 40 day tour gained him the respect of countless welsh rockers and gave him the title of 'Savior of South Wales.'
Pinned as the next Elton John , Ben Thomas's career is thriving. His next aim is too break America with his new partner in rock and also the mother of his new born son, Rebecca Evans.
As seen in a recent article in "Jazz Listeners Monthly", Ben is in talks with DJ DISCOTEQ on compiling an album together. He says "We had some previous experience in a studio together, we created music which could only be described as Jazz hardcore disco pop".
DJ DISCOTEQ has three albums released in the UK, all of which reached the Top 50, firstly with 'Flaming Homosexual', secondly with 'Jesus Sheep' and his last release in 2002 was 'I Cannot Sleep Here'. He has a growing fanbase and alongside Ben would see a new genre of music and amazed people.
