Bette Bright was one of the original Vocalists in the Liverpool Art Rock Band Deaf School. When the group folded in the late seventies Bette went on to sing a solo album ‘Rhythm Breaks the Ice’ produced by ex Deaf School member Clive Langer.

Bette Bright recorded as both Bette Bright, and Bette Bright and The Illuminations.

In 1982 she married Suggs from Madness and stopped releasing music.

A small Deaf School re-union tour in 1988 gave birth to a live Deaf School album ‘2nd Coming: Liverpool ‘88’. Since then Bette and the rest of Deaf School come together occasionally in Liverpool just for fun such as at the opening party of the venue ‘The Picket’ in 2006.

In 2011 Bette and the rest of Deaf School released a new mini-album, ‘Enrico & Bette xx’ via Probe Records in Liverpool and on-line from the band’s website: http://deafschoolmusic.com. ‘Enrico & Bette xx’ features five tracks recorded during 2010 at Briggs Warehouse in Hoxton, North London. The tracks are U Turn Away (written by Clive Langer and Steve Allen), Scary Girlfriend (Langer and Allen), Enrico’s Song (Langer and Allen), I Know I Know (Steve ‘Average’ Lindsey), and Goodbye to All That (Langer, Allen and Lindsey).
