Biography
Big Kettle Drum is an an honest, hard-working
Americana trio that has fought through
adversity to release its highly anticipated 2013
EP entitled “Nantucket Circle.” The band has
been dealing with the harsh recovery from a
bone marrow transplant of front man, Brant
Menswar’s young son, Theo. He was diagnosed
with a rare blood cancer called Myleodysplastic
Syndrome. The same disease that Good
Morning America’s Robin Roberts found
herself facing last year.
When it came time to put these raw emotions
into the new record, the band called on good
friend and chart-topping songwriter Marty
Dodson. “The emotional burden that you carry
during a process like this is enormous. We
didn’t want to write a depressing record.” says
Menswar, “We asked Marty to help us focus the
emotions and make them relatable without
being overwhelming.”
What they ended up with is a passionate
glimpse into real life. From unfulfilled wishes to
facing mortality to “living off of prayers and
favors,” Nantucket Circle brings each listener
on a soulful heartfelt ride to the crossroads of
Hope and Despair.
