Biography
Formed in 2012, Black Magick SS is a Psychedelic Rock band from Tasmania, Australia, credited as the creators of the Magick Metal subgenre and known for the use of National Socialist imagery in their visuals. As such, the group is sometimes erroneously and controversially referred to as National Socialist.
The spelling of the word "magic" in the form "magick" refers to the occult work of Aleister Crowley. The "SS" in Black Magick SS is often mistakenly thought to stand for Schutzstaffel, however the band's full name is Black Magick Star Ship, as evidenced by their new YouTube channel's username as well as some re-uploads of their music.
Initially released through Tasmania’s "Infinite Wisdom Productions," their work is now distributed by Lithuania’s "Creep Purple Promotions," a label known for promoting heavy psych and doom metal bands such as Electric Wizard and Mephistofeles. The band's sound served as a major influence on the rise of other bands with similar sounds, such as The Gates, Behrosth, White Hat and many others.
