Biography
Athens, Greece (2008 – present)
Blondie–g–d and The Pilots are a four-piece garage/rock/pop band from Athens, Greece. They formed in late 2008 at the age of 20, after meeting at a gig and deciding they were made for each other. The Pilots were members of a school band (formerly known as Primus Inter Pares, then Microfilm) since late 2003, composing and playing their own music but seeking someone to write lyrics and do the vocals. Blondie--g--d was writing her own songs since the age of 14, which she later started recording for MySpace, at home, using only her keyboards, her own voice and an almost broken mic.
They started rehearsing as soon as they met and began to throw gigs around Athens, which quickly attracted a young crowd and created Internet buzz. However, they found it hard to “recruit” a good drummer until John came their way and became officially a Pilot. John is a professional drummer, that also helped in the recording of the songs. The tracks they’ve released online are self-recorded and self-produced, as the band remains unsigned to date.
Their music ranges from garage rock to alternative pop, featuring heavy guitars, drum solos, keyboards and erotic vocals. Guided by their musical influences (from Muse, Radiohead, Interpol and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Nirvana and Violent Femmes), the band trust their instincts, subconscious and inner voices to compose English lyric songs that are mainly about "love, sexuality, guilt and the dark side of human".
Blondie–g–d and The Pilots are currently studying in Athens, working on new songs and playing at underground live venues and school festivals when they get the chance.
