Biography

A Victoria, Texas native, born in 1977, Brian Rung is an acclaimed songwriter, session steel guitar player and multi-instrumentalist who has toured with such groups as Jason Boland and the Stragglers and the Jarrod Birmingham Band.

Besides from his session and touring work, Rung has released three albums independantly: the self-titled "Brian Rung" in 2000, "Late for the Show" in 2004 and "Leftovers and Cellar Dwellers" in 2007. In these albums Rung establishes himself as an evocative and talented songwriter on a par with such other Texas legends as Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Billy Joe Shaver.

While obscure, Rung's albums are worthy of a closer look by anyone who appreciates country music for the sake of the song and not the packaging. In a better and more righteous world, Rung would be more recognized and appreciated both on the Texas and national country scene. Regardless, all in all, his three solo ablums thus far constitute some of the best music to come out in the past ten years.
