Biography
Burning Red Sun is trailblazing its way out of the Jersey rock scene and into the US mainstream, and what best way to do it than release an epic EP titled Living on the Edge of Time.
Burning Red Sun is the rock project of founding members Ken Lazorchak, Mike Gomez, and Jim Russo. All three are experienced rockers: Ken is a staple of the New Jersey rock scene, previously a member of renowned bands Laughen Bones and The Lost Highway Ramblers. One of his greatest achievements is having been mentored by the great blues legend Roy Buchanan. Meanwhile in Detroit, Mike Gomez was a former bass player for band Concrete Pillow Detroits own legendary blues band. And completing Burning Red Sun is drummer Jim Russo, a 15-year veteran of the New York/New Jersey club circuit. Together the band cites Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Beatles, John Bonham, and Queens of the Stone Age as their favorite artists, and early heavy metal, alternative, and music from the British invasion for genres. Also joining the lineup in 2011 is veteran guitarist/ vocalist Mike Hanrahan From Northern NJ. Mike totally completes the sound of BRS and is a great guitarist and team player.
Although fans of classic rockers and old-school rock n roll, Burning Red Sun continues to experiment with new styles in playing riffs, bass lines, and drumbeats. Lazorchak explains, I like to experiment by mixing various rock styles and techniques to form my own unique, edgy sound. This keeps it interesting for me while still creating a distinctive playing style. Lazorchak was responsible in writing all the songs in their latest album, their EP titled Living on the Edge of Time.
