First death metal album I ever bought. At the time, I thought it was unlistenable garbage and basically put it in a drawer where it remained for 5 years. Eventually, I found myself getting into death metal and gave it another spin and quite enjoyed it.

Kill is an excellent work of death metal. Laden with killer solos, monstrous riffing, and vicious blast beats, Kill proves that Cannibal Corpse is still a beast without relent or mercy. For those of you who say the band lost it after Vile are dead wrong. Kill shows the band is still full of savage energy and vigour, and that they can still make excellent death metal music in its purest form. Kill is pure chaos and vicious hatred – ‘nuff said.

Bloodthirst and The Wretched Spawn may be my favorite CC albums (production way better than the muddy Erik Rutan sound), but Kill is bad-ass in its own rite. They simplified a bit, and just went straight ahead with fast pummeling energy. Corpsegrinder sounds particularly heavier than usual on this album. Only downside is the track order. All the best songs were front-loaded to the first half, rather than evenly dispersed.

Kill is really not that bad album. I think the thing is Last.Fm was gaining it's popularity rapidly through 2005-2008 years, and that's when most of the users were joining the club. So, my point is - that peak activity caused a lot of listen for this album. For instance, you can take Dying Fetus's War of Attrition - it's hardly their best album, but it got a lot of listeners here.
