Capital Tragedy was a metalcore/post-hardcore band from Columbus, Ohio, United States.
Never before has the Midwest given birth to such a brutally passionate and beautifully chaotic blend of sound. Capital Tragedy was formed in early 2003 and has since, stormed onto the music scene with a vengeance. They began work on their first EP in January of 2004 and have been met with an amazing response from fans across all genres. Their live shows were symphonies of crazed dancing and frantic sing-alongs fueled by furious melodies, heart pounding breakdowns and intoxicating vocals.
Many of their members were in other bands as well. They hail from the hardcore scene and had very devoted fans. Sadly in 2008, the death of screamer/singer Kent Young prevented this band from ever achieving mainstream status. In 2009, Wes Anderson also passed away. Always brutal, never disappointing, Capital Tragedy demanded your attention and still will from beyond the grave, as long as sites like this remain.
The band released one EP entitled "Battle Cries And Broken Promises" while on the Goodbye Blue Sky record label. Like so many great Columbus artists before them, this EP was recorded at the illustrious John Schwab Recording Studio. They also had some unreleased songs recorded in 2004 and 2005.
