"Leftist heavy metal, it was bound to happen sooner or later."
Borne as a vehicle to express progressive political ideas, Che: Chapter 127 is the sonic collision of scissor-sharp guitars, bottom heavy bass lines, driving beats and scorched vocal chords. Inspired by revolutionary thinkers and musical heroes such as refused, rage against the machine, boysetsfire, and lots of underground hip hop, we push assumed limitations aside and create our own sound. We try to sidestep the glut of bands eager to jump on whatever bandwagon is "hip" at any given time, we have kept emulation out of our musical manifesto and we avoid stereotypes like the plague.
We also refute silence, because we know our silence will not protect us. We feel strongly that there is much left to fight for and if we didn't take a stand, we wouldn't be a band. Five fingers make a fist, and the five of us know we are stronger together, screaming at the top of our lungs "if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention".
Community activism is our central purpose and we have lent our name to many political shows over the years, including Rock For Choice, Prison Justice Day, Anti-Police Brutality, Friends + Families of Political Prisoners in Mexico, and the spring 2003 Anti-War rally against the U.S. invasion of Iraq. We call other artists working for social change our allies and have had the honor to share the platform with peers such as Consolidated, Submission Hold, Propagandhi, Aztlan Underground (L.A.), Team Dresch, The Gossip, Sparkmarker, warsaswpack and countless others.
It is not our mandate to preach, but we do feel it is our responsibility to convey our beliefs with as much honesty and integrity as we can muster. The sharing of knowledge and ideas is the backbone of our band's identity and communication is the only badge we wear with pride.
