This song appears on the mixtape "Surrealistic Brillo" by Chicago hip-hop artist Chore Boy.
Chore Boy emerged in Chicago’s hip-hop scene in the mid-2010s with an elastic voice and unconventional style - and he hasn’t stopped applying pressure since. Frequently found alongside producer & composer Brad Kemp , he has released a steady stream of distinctive projects since 2016. The pair are perhaps best known for 2019's Stories You Can Tell Yourself, a cerebral and immersive album dealing in inner narratives & rife with rich musicality.
Since late 2020, Chore Boy & Brad Kemp have taken a more stripped-down approach with their releases. Coursed out seven songs at a time, their music is characterized by minimalist production paired with effortless, idiosyncratic raps. Art for each tape has been provided by Patriac Coakley, whose unusual and striking imagery undoubtedly suits.
"On the mic, favors a desert dry, matter-of-fact monotone, making him the ideal foil for producer Brad Kemp’s subtle soul beats." -Gary Suarez, for CABBAGES
"What stands out the most within their chemistry is the simplicity of their approach. Stellar production is wrapped around Chore Boy's lines as he speaks straightforward," writes GroovNuke for iLLANOiZE.
Vocalo (91.1 FM Chicago)'s Jill Hopkins describes Chore Boy's recent work as “ the kind of thing the GZA or Adrian Younge would ask Questlove to spin at a house party."
Over the years, Chore Boy’s collaborative nature has found him trading bars with the likes of Fashawn (Mass Appeal), MFnMelo (Pivot Gang), Femdot (Closed Sessions), Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live), CantBuyDeem , Jyroscope, Malci, and many more.
