Martin Roberts and Lee Tyler met in 2005 whilst studying Music Technology courses at Staffordshire University and soon discovered their shared love for the forgotten sound of UK Garage. After a few months of DJ'ing back-to-back and making long trips to visit UK Garage nights in the capital city, the duo decided to get in the studio and put some beats together, the first of which being a bootleg remix of Craig David's "All The Way". A crashed computer and an unsaved song later, and the computer shortcut 'Ctrl-S' soon became regularly used as they started the track over again.

Drawing on influences from artists such as Sunship and Artful Dodger, the duo worked their own 2-step version of the track which immediately gained attention due to the lack of new 2-step material at the time. With their first combined work getting heavy support from the likes of DJ EZ, it was quickly snapped up for the next Riddler Records release, for which the duo also crafted a bootleg mix of John Legend's "Ordinary People".

Keen not to forget their roots as DJ's, the duo got involved on a prime-time internet radio show, in which they showcased the best in old and new Garage. Due to the popularity of their show, the guys were invited to guest on numerous London pirate radio stations before securing their very own show on London's leading SubJam 104.7FM, alongside the likes of The Wideboys, Delinquent and Matt Jam Lamont. As DJ's, Control-S have an increasingly busy schedule both in the UK and worldwide. Their unique style of mixing leaves their live sets and mix CD's highly anticipated.

Continuing with the 2-step sound, the duo developed their craft and before long began remixing for the likes of UK Garage legends The Dreem Teem and Kele Le Roc. Their smooth & sexy mix of Kele Le Roc's 'Naked' was playlisted on BBC 1Xtra after the duo's visit to the station for interview and guest mix along with the rest of the Riddler Records family. Continued support from DJ EZ also led to an interview slot on his Kiss 100 radio show.

The next step for Control-S was the inception of their own label imprint, In-Ctrl Recordings, on which the first release was 'Gonna Make It'; a remix EP for MOBO nominated RnB/ Gospel group '4 Kornerz'. The label's second release, 'Never Leave Me Alone', featured the vocal talents of Scott Maurice & Majestic MC. After a limited promo vinyl press, the track was snapped up to feature on BBC 1Xtra's A-List as well as Warner's top 3-selling 'Pure Garage: Rewind Back To The Old Skool' compilation along with their remix of Naked. A slamming remix package also led to Robbie T's bassline mix of 'Never Leave Me Alone' appearing on Ministry of Sound's 'Garage Classics' compilation, also becoming a top selling release.

Having now crafted their sound and developed beyond expectation within the Garage scene, Control-S felt it was time to branch out and with a remix request from Miami-based vocal group Anything But Monday, it gave them the opportunity to introduce their skills into different genres of music. With a constant stream of House remixes coming in, the guys are keen to push their sound to new ears and experiment with all different types of dance music whist still staying true to their roots by pushing vocal 2-step.
