Incredible, this album is still ahead of its time. Humanity still tries to break the code and figure out what these guys did here.

This album was a grower to me, but its a goddamn beast. IMO they managed to increase their level of creativity and songwriting on each album, which culminated on this one. Tracks like The Lethargic Age, Internal Conflict and Grin (among others) are fucking neck-breakers.

some people complain "it's no thrash blah blah bleeegh", but I reckon that this album has extraordinary atmosphere

This album has put such high standards, I can't wait to hear what the new album will sound like regarding to this.

Even if No More Color is the epitom of their style, Grin is my favourite from them.

this album is the definition of creativity. many of the songs incorporate odd time signatures used properly, exotic scales, exotic rhythms, technical and soulful solos and godlike basslines. drums don't spam blastbeats like other bands of that era, it was way ahead of it's time.

I never used to like this album. Has moved up to their second best for me now behind Mental Vortex.

Ya wish. Great album. It has something the others don't, and as far as groove metal goes, there is nothing better (or even remotely good, for that matter) compared to this album. That mostly owes to the great guitarwork (as always) and crazy time signatures. I still consider No More Color and Mental Vortex to be their best, though.

Their best by far. Less "technical" solo wankery, more real experimentation with sound. BTW, Groove > Thrash.

Don't really listen to much metal anymore, But I always find myself coming back to Coroner, especially Grin. It sums up everything I loved most about metal, fast and technical riffs, varied songs, slightly harsh but legible lyrics. Perfection.

People, this is NOT ONLY THRASH, is avant garde/progressive/technical Thrash metal and awesome album. Very underrated and misunderstood.

this is a kind of precursor of new metal... but nice joke that one about metallica, buddy.

@ dburak: '93 is in general that year, where all the great progressive stuff came out and no one cared.

The first couple of times I listened to this it bored me to death, now I can't get enough of it. Take it on its own level and absorb the atmosphere and feeling.. it really is addictive and very emotional in places. It just doesn't express itself as immediately as the other albums do.

I subscribe to the masterpiece opinion too :).And it is on so many levels...Guitar riffs, composition, incredible rhythm section and also lyrics (sometimes) .It has become my workout soundtrack for quite a long time btw :)...and beside that I can listen to it any time and never get bored- this is another incredible effect that Grin has on me."Chapeau" to Coroner!

unnecessarily very long songs, monotonous drum beats and fills, inaudible bass.... only Paralized good song.... shocker experimental metal...

Not their best, but its still better than 99% of the other metal records coming out in 1993. The band couldn't have chosen a better album to leave us with really.

The best Coroner album, and yes- it qualifies as a masterpiece. t strays from their original trash sound- but they had already been there and done that. The only down note about this album is that it was their last (not counting the Coroner album of rarities and b-sides they issued in 1995 to fulfill their contract), but Grin serves as a teasing taster of where the band might have gone in the years ahead...
