Biography
As he likes to say his "production year is 1960, 6th May". Born in Reşiţa(pronounced - Re'shi'tzah), Romania.
He sings since he was 14-15 years old. At the age of 16 he won his first important prize - First place at a competition between high-schools (and a 7 days trip, for free, in Paring). At that point he was a student at Computer Science High School in Timişoara.
At the age of 17 he was in Reşiţa, at another high-school and sings for Cenaclul Atheneum. In 1977 the main invite of the circle, in a 7 days tour, was Mircea Florian. At the end of the tour he goes to him and prays for an autograph in memory of the tour they've had together.
Only that life had a different destiny for him. At Festivalul "Baladele Dunării" (Danube's Ballads Festival) in 1981 (the year when Poesis and Ecoul had their debute in the same festival) is spoted by Adrian Păunescu (who was the president of the jury) and invited in the famous Cenaclul Flacara, where he sings until the very last day of existence of Ceanclul Flacara.
In 1986 he makes in Reşiţa Cenaclul "Focuri vii" (Living fires), where Dinu Olăraşu, Maria Gheorghiu, Vasile Mardare and other talented folk singers used to play.
In 1987 he sings as an opening act for Iris for one and a half month.
Afterwards he makes at the Cultural House of the Sindicates from Reşiţa Clubul Artei Tinere (The youth art club) - (Buica says: "it would become more and more difficult to call it "cenaclu""). There he makes unforgetable shows with guests from all Romanian artist world and ex-Cenaclul Flacara - Stela Popescu, Arşinel, Victor Socaciu (who opened the honor book of the club), Ştefan Hruşcă, Şeicaru, Anda Călugăreanu, Radu Beligan, Leopoldina Balanuţă, Horaţiu Mălăele, etc.
After the 1989 revolution he becomes a waiter at the first private bar in Reşiţa (february 1990). He had been fired from his old job. Romanians from all over the country and not only came to the bar when they heard that one of the waiters is Cristian Buica, the one who played in Cenaclul Flacara, and numerous parties took place there.
After that appeared Cenaclul "Totuşi Iubirea" (Still love). Hundreds or maybe thousands of shows he sings under the slogan: "I still think of writing a book about the sweetness and bitterness of those times that carried me through absolutely incredible personal livings! And not all of them had something to do with art - out of the contrary!"
Besides "Totuşi Iubirea", he sings in other many shows such as a move from Transilvanya called "Transilvania Folk" wich for many years in row organises tours around Transilvanya and with wich Buica sings many times, including in August 2008.
In 2000 he releases his first solo album - Noapte de aur (Golden night).
In 2007 it also appears in a "semi-official" release the album "Până azi" (Until today).
In the moment this biography has been written (august 2008), he has 12 new songs recorded only the voice and guitars (on "poor" mode), wich he hopes to collect into a new material.
He also goes to "Tabara de folk" (Folk camp) from Calafat from the second edition of this festival (in 2008 was the 11th edition), and writes the Camp's anthem: "There is a special place where friendships and absolutely unique songs are born!".
