Cultivated Bimbo was one of several early swedish ebm bands emerging in the last year of the 80s. Their first maxi singles/mini lps Configuration 1 (1990) and Configuration 2 (1991) (also released as Configuration 1+2) were ebm anthems touching the techno branch that was developing in the same era and from the same roots. That influence became more obvious on Tunes From a High Wire later in 1991

The members Jocke Wallin (aka K. Joyce - music) and … Österdahl (aka R. Gilby - words) both from Uppsala, were very much studio musicians and their development away from ebm took them gradually over more advanced beats, towards crossover hip hop and rap, for a time clearly inspired by Meat Beat Manifesto but also the exploding contemporary american hip hop scene. The mini album "Blasting in Progress" from 1992 bridges this change.

The sampling of guitars and american culture phenomena (commercials, political speeches etc) became dominant on "Your usefull guide to Life" and by the mid 90s the sound developed further towards trashy rap-metal, though still electronic. The band disbanded after the album "Album. 1995" in 1995.

Cultivated Bimbo is considered one of Swedens finest acts of their time by many, but this does not reflect in their popularity today. Occasionally though they are played in the clubs.

Wallin was also a studio member of Systema The Affliction and one half of Wallin & Tisa.
