Biography

D-A-D is a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in the early 1980s. Originally named Disneyland After Dark, the band later changed its name to D-A-D to avoid potential legal action from The Walt Disney Company. The name Disneyland After Dark was conceived by Jesper Binzer and was intended to evoke the idea that anything could happen after dark in a place known for its wholesome image.

The initial lineup included Jesper Binzer, Stig Pedersen, Peter Lundholm Jensen, and Stig's then-girlfriend Lene Glumer. The band's first performance took place at a youth club called Sundby Algaard. In December 1982, Glumer left the band, and the remaining three members continued to perform. On March 3, 1984, Jesper's younger brother, Jacob Binzer, joined the group during a concert at Musikcaféen in Copenhagen.

D-A-D released their debut album "Call of the Wild" in 1986. Their international breakthrough came in 1989 with the release of the album "No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims" on Warner Records. This release coincided with the band's fifth anniversary and included the single "Sleeping My Day Away," which received international airplay.

The current members of D-A-D are Jesper Binzer, Jacob Binzer, Stig Pedersen, and Laust Sonne. One of their largest performances was as the opening act for Böhse Onkelz during the band's farewell festival on June 17, 2005, held at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, where they played to an audience of approximately 120,000 people.
