Biography
DJ Chris Kilmore (the turntablist in the band Incubus) was born on 21 January 1973, and raised in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania by an adopted family.
He was first introduced to 'spinning records' when he saw "Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince" perform live, and he fell in love with it immediately. He bought his first table after getting a job at a fast food joint, and his Dad bought him a matching counterpart.
Before joining Incubus, Kilmore's financial situation was so bad that had been forced to go without electricity in his apartment because he could not afford the bill. But that all changed in 1998, when DJ Kilmore went from semi-anonymity to performing in front of thousands of people practically overnight. All because he got the chance to try out for Incubus who had recently parted ways with their original DJ. Kilmore had one audition with the band, who was instanly impressed with him, and was immediately taken aboard. Incubus was in the middle of a tour when he joined so he was forced to quickly learn the parts for over a dozen songs, before he went straight into a busy touring schedule.
Incubus' first album recording with DJ Kilmore, Make Yourself, was a smash hit, thanks to DJ Kilmore's skills at the turntable, which gave a deeper, more organic texture to their music.
