There is more than one Damascus on last.fm.
1. Damascus is an ambient instrumental metal band from New Jersey. Their debut album "Salutations, Distant Satellite!" was released in May 2011. A second ep, "Of Whom I Always Think", was independently released by the band on October 1st. A third, drone-based release entitled "prière d'espoir", was released on 7th November, 2012.
2. Damascus was a classic NWOBHM band based in Merseyside. They released the rare 'Open Your Eyes' 12" EP and a demo in 1984.
3. Damascus is a progressive melodic death metal band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
4. Damascus is a Dutch collective of three rappers and one singer making Gospel Hip Hop music. Their first album 'Tot Hier En Niet Verder' (translated: 'Till here and not further'), was released in 2011.
5. Damascus were from Mt. Prospect, Illinois formed in Feb 1982
Their first six months were spent becoming unified in direction and writing new material. Taking the initiative, the group began booking themselves into large halls, churches, and school gymnasiums throughout the Midwest. Due to the demand at concerts for a recording, the band took time off in late 1983 to produce Damascus, a four song cassette release.
In August 1984, Damascus began working on Will I Find You There? This recording was in record stores and at concerts by May 1985, and quickly surpassed sales of Damascus. Recording of their third project was interrupted midway through by the national attention Will I Find You There? was receiving. With the boost in sales and publicity, the group decided to remix the master tapes. The remixed version was completed and on sale again in February 1986.
In January of 1987, they switched studios and continued recording what became their third release Timeless. Upon its release that spring, Timeless won rave reviews from nearly every Christian publication. The next year and a half was spent on the road supporting Timeless.
In the spring and summer of 1990, the group took a deep breath as they reflected and began redefining Damascus. September of 1990 saw Damascus officially releasing their long awaited fourth release Soon…The Doors Will Open. As the group and reviewers quickly admit, Soon… is by far the best work they have completed to date.
