Biography
Music has been a large part of Damen’s life since a very young age. Thanks to his family he grew up listening to the Motown greats like James Brown, Michael and Janet Jackson, and The Temptations. "I remember listening to their music and watching their performances and thinking how much effort and talent they put into each of their songs and performances. It just blew me away someone could express themselves in that sort of way", he says.
At the age of fourteen, he started writing his very own lyrics and has not stopped since. As he has gotten older his lyrical depth has expanded and grown. Along with writing his own lyrics he has begun creating his own music, incorporating many different styles and personal influences. "People tend to put music and themselves in a box. I try to avoid that by giving everything a chance. I’ll try anything once and I hope people will get a sense of that from my music."
He is currently a Mass Communications student; he's pursuing a career in the music business and working to study musical production. But until then, music is his outlet for life’s stresses and frustrations.
Damen’s music is a constant work in progress and is ever changing-"When it comes to many things in my life, especially music, I’m a perfectionist. I like to make sure whatever I’m putting out there is something I am proud of and want to share with the public."
