- Anna Blomberg
The band was formed in 2000 by Ania Blomberg - vocal, keyboards, Chris Smith - bass and Gerard - guitars, programming. At first they played traditional gothic, using drum machine. After recording their first EP "Not Yet" Ania decided to move to Devon and started working on this project together with her husband Dave Blomberg. Initially Dance On Glass was more studio than live project. However, after releasing "Not Yet" the band started getting offers to play live and Dance On Glass found themselves in need of a full line-up. Therefore, for live performances, they invited Chris Smith on bass guitar and Michael Dean on drums.
In summer 2002 Dance On Glass played at Castle Party Festival in Bolków. It was very well received by the audience and music press. As we read in www.rockezine.com gig report: "This English/Polish band is obviously known here in Poland. Not very surprising if you take into account that Ania Blomberg sang in Batalion D'Amour, a famous Polish dark goth/rock band. During their ninth and last song the crowd in front of the stage went absolutely nuts; a great sight to see! Ania's poppy sounding voice blended in nicely with the rest of the music. All this added up shows DANCE ON GLASS is an above average band." Song "Flying" was featured on “Castle Party 2002” compilation album, together with tracks by New Model Army, Project Pitchfork, Fading Colours, Das Ich etc.
Recently, Dance On Glass signed a deal with Metal Mind Productions. Also, they were invited to record a track for “Haunted Heartbreak Hotel - Gothic Tribute for Elvis Presley” which will be released by American label Wreckage Productions. The band will record "Memories" from the Elvis 1968 comeback special. Compilation will be released next year. In January/February 2003 Dance On Glass are planning a tour with NOZZLE and Myrkur. The tour will include gigs in Poland, Germany and UK.
