Biography
From MySpace:
Danny is a 22-year-old (born 1988) Canadian singer who is currently studying jazz harmony and theory as a vocal major in Toronto. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, after 12 years of studying primarily classical piano and theory, he moved to Toronto to pursue a degree in Jazz. He is very interested in many types of a cappella music. While he is still an amateur audio and video editor, he loves recording and mixing in his home. At age 6, Danny began taking classical piano lessons from Marilyn Whitehead. He was an active participant in the Saskatoon Music Festival, where he received numerous certificates for first and second place in competitions. Before entering high school, Danny began taking private theory lessons. He also began taking piano lessons from Martin Janovsky, where he began to fully enjoy his lessons, choosing pieces and styles that were of his musical interest. He stopped competing and took interest in some styles such as classical, ragtime, and jazz. He continued taking lessons until grade 12, when he reluctantly gave it up. Danny has been interested in singing since high school where he was first introduced to vocal jazz. During this time, he was the lead singer in the a cappella quartet "Mixed Nuts" with whom he had the opportunity to sing with the Chimo Chordsmen's "Saskatchewan's Centennial Celebration" at Saskatoon's TCU Place. After high school, Danny attended the Arts and Science College of the University of Saskatchewan, where he had the opportunity to sing with the U of S Greystone Singers, under the direction of Gerald Langner. With this group, Danny traveled to several cities through Austria and Czech Republic on their tour, singing a wide variety of styles such as classical, folk, spiritual, and modern music to name a few. He experienced singing in several different languages such as English, French, Italian, Czech, German, and Russian, covering many famous composers such Pavel Chesnokov, Anton Bruckner, Franz Schubert, Eric Whitacre, Moses Hogan, Greg Jasperse, Randall Stroope, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and many, many more. At the same time, Danny was also involved with the Fireside Singers, under the direction of Marilyn Whitehead. After his only year at U of S, Danny sought interest in jazz harmony and currently studies at Humber College in Toronto. He is in his third year of his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Contemporary Music degree. He studies vocals with Orville Heyn and sings with several groups including the Trish Colter Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Paul DeLong's Steely Dan Project, the Toronto Northern Lights barbershop chorus, and with his barbershop quartet Rendezvous (he sings tenor). His quartet Rendezvous competed in the Ontario District barbershop contest and placed second in 2009; they are hoping to compete again this year. The Toronto Northern lights compete annually and have placed in the Top 5 at the international contest (ranging from second to fifth) for many years. Rendezvous traveled to Florida to compete with the "Cross Canada Chorus" at the Tampa Bay Midwinter Barbershop convention, where they placed fifth overall. In his spare time, Danny enjoys " a cappella multitracking", the act of creating a piece of music with no instruments using overdubs. This hobby of his has allowed him to learn a lot more about a cappella music and the barbershop community by interacting with other multitrackers and by transcribing music for himself and others. Through his youtube account, he acquired his part-time job making learning tracks for an a cappella composer's choir. While, this is in no way a full time job at the moment, Danny hopes to pursue it in the future and perform a cappella music live at some point.

From Youtube:
Mostly multitrack work here, although some stuff with my quartet Rendezvous is posted here as well. The majority of songs covered are barbershop, but I like to show a little versatility by branching into classical and vocal jazz from time to time.
