How is every song on this record literally the best thing I've ever heard on a deftones album? (we don't talk about the last minute and a half of pink cellphone...)

fun fact: the album cover is from a porno called "Roxanna". it's mid tho, don't bother looking it up, unless it's purely for research purposes

a nocturnal and aquatic album. barely barely loses to White Pony and snuffs Diamond Eyes, a 50/50 matchup with Around the Fur. Any S/T lovers in this chat? I think if you like SNW it's only a hop-skip-and-a-jump away.

The sound of this album with headphones is unmatched. Makes me feel like I'm in the ocean

Alternatively Koi No Yokan makes me feel like I'm floating through space and Gore makes me feel like I'm tripping on LSD

My personal discovery of 2024. Oh, and I don't care about "buttfuck" and "bad teeth of English people", music and lyrics are top-notch. I cannot tell, whether its better or worse than "White Pony", but it's definitely the best thing I've listened this year along "Wojna Domowa" by Polish black/post-punk band Gruzja.

eh you sort of have to understand where Chino and the band were at when it comes to Pink Cellphone. You gotta know that Chino was battling addiction and the band was fed up with how long the whole process for SNW was taking. Hence Chino belting (in the opening track, "Hole in the Earth") "I HATE AAAALLL OF MY FRIENDS". I got no clue as to the lore of Pink Cellphone but to me it projects submission and voyeurism, it's a 5 minute deluge of smut and black comedy. I feel like Chino just didn't care anymore, right? Hence the literal cheat code track filler on the record. Anyway, small price to pay for a track like Cherry Waves lol. I guess for me everything fits only because this was the first Deftones record I heard and as such the one that is cemented (along with White Pony) as their best work.

i was listening to this album for the first time yesterday, and halfway thru i thought to myself "wow this might just be better than white pony and will probably be my favorite album from them" and then that part in pink cellphone came on...

9/10 only thing keeping it from being a 10 for me is when that girl starts yapping in the 2nd half of pink cellphone, not something I wanna listen to again...

Probably the second most atmospheric Deftones album behind Koi No Yokan. Ohms and Diamond Eyes comes close.

I like Saturday Night Wrist for two reasons: 1. It sounds apocalyptic, esp songs like Hole in the Earth and Kimdracula. 2. It sounds clean asf. If it was released today in 2023 it would still sound amazing.

One of my favourite Deftone's albums for sure. Quite an underrated album. Emotive as well

There's an echo-y, distorted sound bouncing quality to "Cherry Waves" and a few other songs that sound they're being played at an indoor rec pool or being listened to while underwater, even though they're not. SNW makes an excellent pool party album or playlist addition

Chino doesn't like this record: "I don’t feel like it’s me, it’s this unconfident version of myself that doesn’t know what he’s doing.” I love the uncertain, vulnerable, and emotive sound that's so unique to SNW but I get why the creators would be reluctant to return to that dark mindset and time. ---- also, is there any verification that the album cover is actually from 'Roxanna', a 1970 Grind-house film?
