It was released on February 24, 2013 by Hollywood Records as the lead single from the album. The song was written by Sean Douglas, Nikki Williams, Aaron Phillips, and Lovato themselves, with the song's producers Mitch Allan and Jason Evigan going under their stage name 'The Suspex'. "Heart Attack" has lyrics talking about being love-sick. It debuted at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, eventually peaking at number 10.
