Pacific Ocean Blue is Dennis Wilson's only solo album, released on August 22, 1977. The crowning achievement of the brand of melancholy and introspective songwriting Dennis had been composing for near on a decade, it is regarded as perhaps the finest The Beach Boys solo album, notably outselling that group's contemporary album release at a time when tensions between Dennis and other group members were high. Out of print for decades, a lengthy legal battle ensured a successful re-release of the album on compact disc (this time as an expanded 30th anniversary edition) in 2008.
