Biography
Disoma, usually given the rather pretentious capitalization "disoma" were a post-hardcore band from Southampton active from 1998-2003. There were two real incarnations of the band. The first consisten of Mitch Crease (bass), Russ Vaughan (guitar), John Farmer/James Hogwood (drums and programmed drums respectively) and Tom Duggan. With a punky sound mixing Fugazi, Slint and Mogwai's into mini-epics, but not as good as that sounds. The second incarnation consisted of Russ, Tom, John, Nick Sharp (vocals) and Rob Callen (bass). Nick's exuberant stage presence gave the band a focus and their sound became more complex, louder and somehow more pretentious. They were featured on a number of splits and compilation from Errol Records (that number is 2) and a posthumous compilation of Southcoast Hardcore. It's occasionally mentioned that disoma should have done a lot more and if they'd tried harder, they might have. Russ and Nick are now in The Good Wife. They do claim responsiblity by proxy for a number of more sucessful acts, including Bloc Party, At The Drive-In Fightstar.
