Biography
Formed in 1992 by ex members of 80’s Sydney punk band Black & Blue, Dr. Fruitworld (AKA Fruitworld) was fronted by Al Creed on guitar and vocals who had previously and subsequently played with Government Downfall, Execution Masks, Aberration, Inchmen, Black & Blue, SC5, Panadolls, New Christs, Hey! Charger and Hell Crab City, with Phil Van Rooyen (Panadolls, Chickenstones) on guitar/vocals, Ken Archbold on bass (Itchy Rat, Hellmenn, Panadolls, WWXXIV) and Andrew Warren (Progression Cult, Black & Blue) on the drums.
Playing a combination of punk-inspired guitar driven hard rock with melodic overtones the band was well received on the live music circuit of their hometown of Sydney, seeing the band head into the studio in 1993 to record their debut release, “Noise Fix” .
Archbold moved on to the Hellmenn and was replaced on bass by Justin (Charlie) O’Neill (DT’s, Daredevil). After their first release on Tunnel/Shock Records “Noise Fix” (1993) drummer Warren departed due to health reasons and was replaced by Simon Lazareth for the recording of the follow up “Pain” (1993 Tunnel/Shock Records) under the new moniker of just Fruitworld.
Lazareth departed in 1994 and the band was joined on drums by Simon “Oxx” Cooper (Fester Fanatics, Massive Appendage, Lazarus) .The band continued to gig Sydney and the east coast but after the untimely death of drummer Oxx they eventually disbanded with Creed and Van Rooyen rejoining Archbold in The Panadolls.
