Biography
Dred I Dread is a Minneapolis, MN based Reggae and Hip Hop Band. The name Dred I Dread means “fear my dreadlocks”. Dred I Dread was formed in the Fall of 1998. Dred I Dread was chosen as "Best Local Reggae Band" by City Pages Magazine in 1999. The debut CD "Listen to the Revolution" was released in early March 1999. The CD was produced by International Reggae Keyboardist Tony “Asher” Brisset, one of the founding members of Black Uhuru. During 2000 and 2001, Dred I Dread was named "Best Reggae Band in Minnesota" by the members of the Minnesota Music Academy. Dred I Dread released their latest album named "A Piece of Americana" in December of 2008. Currently, Dred I Dread Family is back on the road or in the studio working on their highly anticipated 2009 album. Dred I Dread features fresh talent augmenting the veterans of the band. The musicians that form Dred I Dread infuse traditional Reggae and Roots music with Hip Hop, Dancehall, Jazz, Blues, Rock and even Turkish music for an original mix.
