Disambiguation: there are at least two artists using this name. One is a rapper called Dupe, Duper, or Crazy Mike; the other is one or more individuals from Brighton, UK creating ambient electronica.
Dupe (rap)
Duper's lyrics that are both reflective of a life hard lived and a social statement to the world around him. Growing up with a father who was incarcerated, being moved around from one home to another, finally settling in South Park/Sunny Side (assumed to be in Houston, TX), he became part of the lifestyle of drugs and violence for which the area is notorious. Here Duper became known as Crazy Mike, and began a life which has seen him in and out of jail since the age of 10. Despite his setbacks, Mike has been able to channel his energies into his lyrics; creating music which is at times painful, at times upbeat, at times gritty, but always REAL.

Dupe's only album, Demo, is a 4 piece set of stunningly feel good tracks featuring dubbed vocals, various acoustic instrumentation, solid drum lines, and lush, synthesized melodies. These songs each visit the extremes of all aspects of their identity, making the EP a diverse, and a very pleasant listen.
Dupe was expected to release a second EP but doesn't appear to have done so. Dupe is on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/dupeuk and the official site is at www.dupe.spyw.com/.
