Elijah Vincent Irvin (b. February 6th, 2005), better known by his rap name, Edot Babyy, was a 17-year old rapper born and raised in Harlem, New York. Living in Harlem, Edot was surrounded by much gang activity on a daily basis, eventually finding himself affiliated with a Harlem gang known as “OY" or “Original Younginz”.
At just 15-years old, Edot’s young talent of rapping was already gaining notable recognition—racking up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube with songs like, Ready 4 War, Ride The O and Ready 4 War Pt. 2. From that point on, Edot’s consistency in dropping music, paired with a rapidly growing fanbase, would solidify him as one of the hottest new artists putting on for New York.
The 17-year old rapper was also notorious for collabing with friends like, Sha EK, Sugarhill Keem, Sugarhill Ddot and DD Osama, fellow young artists who were also on the come up in the New York rap scene. Mixing his talent with other notable artists made sure it wasn’t long before Edot became one of the most recognizable faces in New York.
On the evening of November 4th, 2022, Edot was found in his home alone, unconcious, laid on the floor. EMS responders quickly rushed the 17-year old to hospital but sadly, when arrived, he was pronounced dead. The cause of death; an alleged self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Edot’s death impacted many people tuned into the New York Drill scene.
