In the late 1970s, Edward Ball was one of the founding members of the Television Personalities. After he left the band in the early 1980s, he was frontman of several bands (The Times, O Level, Teenage Filmstars, Love Corporation). In the mid 90s, he released his first solo album "Catholic Guilt", including the tracks "The Mill Hill Self Hate Club", "Love is Blue" and "Trailblaze", which were also released as singles. He returned to Television Personalities for their latest albums "My dark Places" (released 2006) and "Are we nearly there yet?" (released 2007).
