El Gran Silencio is a rock en español band from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico that blends a variety of rock influences with regional musical forms, particularly popular in Monterrey. Their part was central in the Avanzada Regia musical movement during the 1990s and 2000s. Current members include the Cano Hernandez brothers, Tony Hernandez, Issac "Campa" Valdez, Wiwa, and Esquivel Alvarado. Their first album (1999) was titled "Libres y locos", which means 'Free and loony' in Spanish, in reference to the words traditionally use by the people of Monterrey to describe themselves.
It was on "Libres y locos" that they scored a hit with the song "Dormir Soñando". Their follow-up album (2001) was titled "Chuntaros Radio Poder" and it was even more successful. Their third album is called Superiddim Internacional Vol. 1. In 2006, they launched the album "Comunicaflow Underground".
