Biography

Ellie Come Home is nothing less than a five-person orchestra. Combining classical instrumentation with pop appeal, this band has more power than a collision of celestial bodies. Piano, violin, cello and rich vocal harmonies give this moody rock band their signature sound.

Formed in 2005 in the Midwestern college town of Columbia, Missouri, Ellie Come Home is like a classical danish with a creamy indie-rock filling. They’re like Beethoven if he drank PBR and watched reruns of “Dawson’s Creek.”

Last year, the band released their self-titled debut EP. Now, they’re following up with their first full-length, PRIMARY SOURCES, which was recorded at home by the band and is now available from Emergency Umbrella Records.

Combining an affinity for classical instrumentation with pop tendencies, the band plays in a variety of styles, from intricate layered compositions to simple rock songs. But always, the glorious strings and magical three-part vocal harmonies remain at the center of the music.

Who is Ellie Come Home? Do they actually know what they're doing? Well, there's Jenn who is an expert on the cello and has a music degree. Maura plays violin, and she also studied music for many years.

Seth has played piano since age 3, but most of his music training comes from the dozen or so different bands he's played in. A lot of the time he was playing drums, which probably has something to do with why he occasionally bloodies his hands from banging too hard on his keyboard.

And of course, Matt is a bass wizard, and Joey is a like an army of drummers all rolled into one compact soldier of rock.
