Biography
Enima is a Canadian-Algerian rapper originating from the St-Leonard (STL) arrondissement of Montreal. It is known for its historic italian community, distinct white brick architecture and windy streets, it is also infamous for its ties to the Sicilian and Calabrese families and the Eastside Bloods ( BoGars ) .
Around 2010 as a teenager he featured on a handful of videos by artists from St early He first became viral in 2016 with the MMS // Power remix // music video directed by Kevin Shayne.
His first wave of hits , the era of MMS vol 1 & MMS vol 1.5 — including, Intro, Jugg (x Izzy S), Cette Nuit (x Russkov), Blow (x LK tha Goon, White-B) — and the successes of Izzy-S and 5sang14, is commonly regarded as the start of the current era in Montreal rap and the return of street and culture rap to the mainstream.
In 2017 he released mixtape Eclipse (in reference to Montreal gang unit "Groupe Eclipse" which arrested him on gun charges the year before), It was supported by the now Montreal-classic For the Low.
In 2018 he released independent album "OPN" on MMS records, it was supported by Time, In Love & Risques.
He followed it in 2019 with "De Rien" which featured Détour and Toute La Nuit (x VT).
While on visit to his home country of Algeria in 2019 he was named by the Toronto Police in an arrest warrent implicating in a shootout.
Due to subsequent infractions and failure to show up to court he was revoked entry in Canada.
In 2020 and 2021 he started developing in the European and Algerian markets, appeared on Booska-P "Booska MMS" freestyle, and signed a distribution deal for MMS Records with Believe Digital.
His first studio album Résilience was released on October 29 2021 with appearences from TK13, PLK and Norsacce.
In November 2021 he was featured alongside STL legend Connaisseur Ticaso on G.O.A.T.S by Laval artist MikeZup.
