Biography

Fish Tank was a British three-piece math rock pop band from Kent. The band formed after lead singer Ed Wetenhall and drummer Joe Jeffcoate met during their first week at Canterbury Christ Church University in 2010.

In the pensioner smog of Broadstairs, Kent, Wetenhall found himself in his new university halls, alone and band-less. Two weeks on and what he thought was just a passing idea amongst excitable new friends Joe Jeffcoate and Joe Nash became a sleepy seaside town’s worst nightmare.

Through honing their brand of angst pop and relentlessly touring in spite of their studies, Fish Tank have made a name for themselves on the British underground scene through their notoriously chaotic live show and having shared the stage with Alt-J, Tall Ships, Marmozets and Slaves amongst countless others.

The sound they create on record is as catching as their performances are infamous. Debut EP ‘Henry’ quickly garnered a lot attention on the Kent music scene. Its praise gained the band a place at BBC Kent Introducing's 4th birthday in Canterbury and even led to a slot on the stages at Reading and Leeds.

Their single ‘Friends’ is a supremely catchy disarray of pop melodies and aggressive instrumentation. The band released an EP in 2015.
