Biography
Florealis is an experimental post-hardcore band from New Port Richey, Florida, United States.
In 2022, Richie and Shawn were collaborating and writing music, while looking for a guitarist. In order to convince Shawn's best friend, Nick - who had no interest in metal - they decided to shift visions to one his favorites.
Founded in February 2022, the band now known as Florealis began their writing process. Writing dozens of tracks, developing their own unique style and sound; while honing their skills and pushing the boundaries of what they thought was possible for themselves. With the ep nearing completion, they were in search of a vocalist. Nick spearheaded auditions, and in December 2022, Jake joined as harsh vocalist. Soon after, Nick became the lead vocalist while maintaining his duties on guitar.
April 7th, 2024. A date permanently etched into my memory. It was a band practice Sunday, we got together to rehearse through the set, and discuss the logistics of our upcoming debut EP. Tragically and unexpectedly, Nick passed away this day. One of the most beautiful, soft, genuinely kind people in this world. Word's cannot describe the impact this had on everyone near to him.
The name "Select Start" is an homage to the start screen of video games, that we all love. It was also a metaphor for us selecting start on the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as Florealis.
Their EP Select Start dropped in 2024.
