The song was uploaded to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's official MySpace page on June 2, 2008. It was announced on February 22, 2009 that "Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)" would be released as the Freemasons' new single.
The song was premiered on BBC Radio 1's The Scott Mills Show on April 24 2009.
The single reached #2 on the UK Dance Chart, as well #2 on the UK Indie Chart on the issue of July 3rd 2009
