Biography
Gettysburg is a punk rock band from New Jersey and Queens, NY formed in 2010 by a group of friends looking to leave behind the scene politics of former musical endeavors and return to why they started playing in bands to begin with: FUN. Over the past decade, the members of Gettysburg had all performed together in various other bands including Hidden In Plain View, The Farm League and John Connor to name a few. After being fed up with egos and other assorted nonsense of previous projects, the band members found simple comfort in a few power chords and a case of beer in a humid New Jersey garage. And so, there was Gettysburg.
In September of 2010, Gettysburg entered the studio with long time friend and producer John Naclerio at Nada Recording Studio in New Windsor, NY. They left with their first EP, meaninglessly titled "Welcome To The Whistle Club". Wondering "who the hell really wants to pay for a file on their computer?", they released the EP for free on Bandcamp. Gettysburg has continued writing new material since and plans to record a new EP, tentatively titled "Bartop Sing Alongs" in the winter of 2011.
Gettysburg made their official live debut on December 5th 2010 at Party Xpo in Brooklyn, NY. Sharing the bill with them on the small show was long time friends and former tourmates, Nightmares For A Week. Since then, the band has been turning heads with their care free and lively set; having a few beers don't hurt either.
With new songs ready to release, Gettysburg plans to spend 2011 making their rounds across the NYC metro area at any bar or basement that will have them. Grab some buddies, grab some beers, and come hang out.
