Biography
Greta is a grammy-nominated musician and songwriter from the Faroe Islands, based outside Bordeaux. She had a nomadic upbringing, following her family’s work from the Faroe Islands to Portugal to England to Singapore. Until now, Greta's music pivoted around cross-genre collaboration, as varied as Deadmau5, The Bloody Beetroots, Cher & Ludovico Einaudi. With her new direction as greta svabo, she moves into a different space, inspired by a move to the French countryside and motherhood: growth in abundance. Built upon one mic recordings to an old tape machine, ambient audio and introspective writing.
“The birth of my daughter late 2022 was a catalyst to finding a musical process that felt like home. A love of storytelling, and letting go of perfection in the creative act. In this new music I explore the beauty of imperfection, writing on guitar and piano, recording to tape, capturing ambience and strings."
In October this year, greta released her song “just a feeling”, citing it as the first song in a new beginning. “I'm more into the idea of sharing intimate moments,” she explains. With her second release, “song for bella”, we see this intimacy in the form of a song written for a daughter. A one mic tape recording: guitar, voice, and the sound of birds.
Her music takes you into a world of classic singer-songwriter, juxtaposed with the contemporary glitch of modern life.
